On a day trip you see Mikumi in the middle of the day. Staying one night adds the two best times for wildlife: the late afternoon, when animals come back to the water, and the first light of the morning, when lions are still on the move.

Day by day
Day 1: Zanzibar to Mikumi
Morning flight from Zanzibar to the airstrip in the park, where your guide meets you. Game drive on the way to your lodge or camp, lunch, a rest in the heat of the day, then out again in the afternoon until sunset.
Day 2: Morning game drive and back
Out early for a game drive while it is cool, back for breakfast, then a last drive to the airstrip for the flight to Zanzibar. Our driver takes you to your hotel.
Small planes allow about 15 kg of luggage per person, hand luggage included, best in a soft bag; we confirm your airline's limit when we book. Flights can be delayed by weather or air traffic; if that happens, we adjust the day so you lose as little time in the park as possible.

Where do we sleep?
In a mid-range lodge or tented camp in or near Mikumi, with a private bathroom. We name it when we confirm your dates.
Can we leave our big suitcases on Zanzibar?
Yes, that is the usual way: ask your hotel to keep them, and bring a soft bag for the night.
Is it worth it with children?
Yes, many families find two shorter days easier than one long one. Tell us the children's ages so we can check the lodge and the flights.
